Charnos Simply Bare Tights

There may not be a better pair of summer tights than these. My pick of the week from UK Tights is the Charnos Simply Bare Tights. These tights strike the perfect balance between lightweight breathe-ability and durability. If that isn't enough, they do all of this at a ridiculously low price.

The problem with tights in the summer is that typically you have to make a choice between wearing something that adds an extra layer to legs, thereby intensifying the heat that the summer weather is already bringing or going with something more lightweight that may not be strong enough to last the day. Anyone who has worn single-digit denier tights knows that you spend the whole day feeling like one wrong move with tear the tights. Going to a higher denier count will increase the durability, but also make you feel hotter in the summer.

The Charnos Simply Bare Tights take care of this problem. They are 7 denier, with built in climate control technology, to keep the legs feeling cool, but they also have the durability of 15 denier tights, making them far more run or tear resistant. They really are the best of both worlds. These are so lightweight, that you'll forget you're wearing them at all. Personally, I typically stay away from anything less than 10 denier because of both the lack of durability, and because the lightweight tights tend to overstretch over the course of the day. These tights have neither problem. They fit perfectly and stay where they're supposed to, and durability is not a problem.

The tights come in five different 'skin' tones all of which are different progressions of tan, depending on how tanned you want your legs to look. It works because it really is hard to tell you're wearing anything at all. It just looks like your bare leg, only perhaps more tanned. This of course depends on ethnicity, as they, at least at the moment, do not have skin tones for every color leg. These are a great pair of tights, so hopefully they'll get to work on getting some more shades out there.

The tights are made from a blend of 63% nylon, 36% elastane, and 1% cotton. This is a higher than typical elastane count, especially for 7 denier tights, and I think this is what results in the better fit and higher level of durability. More low-denier tights should be made with this in mind. They come in 4 different sizes, fitting heights between 4'11" and 6'0" and come in 5 different shades. The tights have a sheer toe, cotton gusset, and high leg panty which feels no more restrictive than a typical sheer panty. Finally, these tights are an absolute steal at £4.35 (less than $7). At a price like this, they are a summer necessity.
